According to Japanese gaming media Dengeki Online, Konami president Hideki Hayakawa recently talked about how AI will affect the gaming industry. He believes the market environment won't change much because of it, even though many expect AI to lower the barrier for game development.
He pointed out that making games has already gotten much easier thanks to mature game engines and the rise of user-generated content (UGC). AI can speed up work and teamwork, but creating truly fun and groundbreaking games still comes down to the people behind them.
Hayakawa stressed that great games come from creators with different backgrounds teaming up and bouncing ideas off each other. This kind of "chemistry" is hard to replace. He sees new tech as a big chance to create fresh gaming experiences.
Konami is now offering company-level support to help its teams weigh the risks and bring cutting-edge AI tools on board in a safe, controlled way.
