LG Shows Off AI Voice Assistant for Smart Homes Built with Microsoft
LG Electronics of South Korea showed off a smart home AI voice assistant built with Microsoft at a Microsoft industry summit in Gangnam District, Seoul. The product runs on the smart home hub device "ThinQ ON" and is said to offer a conversation experience close to human interaction.
The voice assistant is based on speech-to-speech agent technology and uses Microsoft's Voice Live. It supports an interruption feature, letting users ask new questions while the AI is still answering. The system immediately stops its previous response, understands the new intent, and switches the conversation.
LG plans to launch ThinQ ON with Voice Live within the year and will update the feature for existing ThinQ ON users. The assistant is not limited to homes and can also be used in B2B spaces such as hotels, offices, and retail stores.
