LM Studio launches LM Link to run Mac AI models from iPhone
LM Studio updated its Mac app with a new feature called LM Link. Now iPhone users can run AI models stored locally on their Mac. You need an LM Studio account logged in on both devices. Once enabled, the system creates a secure connection between your Mac and iPhone. The Mac processes requests and sends results back to your phone.
For privacy, LM Link uses end-to-end encryption. It runs on a custom Tailscale virtual private network. This keeps all data and communication between devices private and secure. Your devices won't be exposed to the public internet. LM Link supports any model you have on your Mac, including Apple Intelligence base models. Performance depends on your Mac's hardware.
LM Link is free during the preview phase. After that, LM Studio will keep a free plan and add paid options. Prices and features haven't been announced yet. LM Studio is a desktop app that makes it easy to run open-source AI models locally, even if you don't know how to use command lines.
