Meta acquires AI data analytics platform Sundial, founded by two former Meta employees
Tech company Meta has acquired Sundial, an AI data analytics platform. It was founded by two former Meta employees: CEO Julie Zhuo previously served as VP of Product Design at Meta, and co-founder Chandra Narayanan led data analytics at Instagram and Sequoia Capital.
Sundial's core capability lets companies ask complex data questions in plain language through a chatbot plugin and quickly get actionable insights. Business teams can complete data analysis on their own without waiting for a central data department, speeding up product iteration and operational decisions.
Meta has been investing heavily in data and AI infrastructure. In July this year, it appointed its first Chief Data Officer and set up a new team for descriptive analytics, experiment testing, and AI system monitoring. After the deal, Narayanan will lead data analytics tools and AI agents work, with the team saying they aim to define the future of AI analytics.
