Meta launches AI agent Muse for smart glasses
Meta announced that its AI agent Muse will soon arrive on smart glasses. Users can simply give voice commands without taking out their phones, and Muse will complete tasks in the background. Muse runs on the Muse Spark AI model, with its core environment being a private persistent Linux virtual machine in the cloud, equipped with its own browser, file system and terminal. These components keep running even when the app is closed.
Muse can write and run code on its own, assign work to multiple sub-agents, create scheduled tasks, and generate documents, PDFs, websites and interactive tools like expense trackers and data dashboards. Unlike other AI agents aimed at developers and professionals, Muse targets ordinary consumers. Its interface uses a simplified messaging-style design with an anthropomorphic avatar, highlighting everyday use cases.
Meta says Muse can help users book travel, send emails, fill out forms and shop online. It can also handle more complex tasks such as negotiating bills, helping sell a car, and even making phone calls on behalf of users. For payments, Muse uses Stripe's Link service with virtual one-time payment cards, so the AI never touches users' bank or credit card details.
On privacy, Meta claims it will not use Muse data for advertising, but unless users opt out, the data will be used to train future AI models. Meta plans to launch a Confidential VM option later this year, in which even Meta itself cannot access the runtime environment.
