Meta launches StoryKit, an AI app for kids' stories
Meta is testing a new app called StoryKit in some countries. It uses AI to create children's picture books. Users can pick characters, scenes, themes, and background music without writing a word. The app has safety filters, no social features, and is only for adults 18 and older.
To make a story, you first choose a character — take a photo of a toy or person to bring it to life. Then describe the story world and pick values like kindness or courage. The AI adds these themes naturally. Meta says the app helps make creative, personalized stories.
But TechCrunch points out that humans have told stories for ages, and AI might reduce the emotional connection between parents and kids. While StoryKit is handy when parents are busy or out of ideas, people can still choose to tell stories themselves.
