Meta Open-Sources Muse Gadgets for Custom AI Hardware
Meta has launched an open-source project called Muse Gadgets. It lets developers build custom hardware for its AI agent Muse. The ESP32 firmware and Linux device SDK are now available on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license.
The ESP32 SDK supports 11 development boards, and six of them can run a full screen UI. The Linux SDK works with Raspberry Pi 3B+, 4, 5 and more. Muse can run shell commands, read and write files, and check device health on these devices.
Meta also built a ready-made device called Muse Home Link. Around 5,000 units will be given for free to Muse subscribers in the US. Meta also rolled out Muse for Small Business and set up a new Meta Enterprise Platform unit for business clients.
This move turns Muse from a chatbot into an AI runtime that works across hardware. It may take on some roles of operating systems and smart home hubs. The SDK docs also warn about pairing risks and token leaks, so users should stay careful.
