Meta Opens Muse Spark AI Model API, Joining the Commercial Race
Meta has opened the API for its Muse Spark AI model to developers, along with an upgraded version 1.1, officially entering the commercial AI race. This is Meta's most powerful model for real-world coding and AI agent tasks, part of its push for personal superintelligence.
Muse Spark 1.1 can write and debug code, operate software and use external tools, understand text, images, and videos, and handle complex multi-step tasks with less human help. Meta first launched this model in April after forming a superintelligence team, initially only for select partners.
Now U.S. developers can try Muse Spark through the Meta Model API preview, with a $20 free credit for testing. Pricing is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, higher than OpenAI's entry-level GPT-5 mini but lower than Anthropic's high-end Claude Sonnet 4.6.
Besides the API, Muse Spark 1.1 is available in Thinking mode on Meta AI apps and web. It will eventually replace the Llama models powering WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta's smart glasses chatbots.
