Meta partners with Reliance to build AI data center in India

Meta has partnered with India's Reliance Industries to build its first AI data center in India through a leasing model. The facility aims to deliver localized AI services to the rapidly growing Indian market. Located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, the data center will use renewable energy and desalinated seawater for cooling.

The first phase of the project is 168MW, leased by Meta, with potential for future expansion. Meta will cover all energy and water costs for the site and has signed nearly 1GW of new renewable energy contracts with two clean energy providers. This marks a key move for Meta in India.
