Microsoft CEO Nadella: AI Agents Will Be the Main Interface

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a recent talk that computing platforms are shifting from operating systems and apps to agents. The comment came in a video released by Qualcomm, where Nadella and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon discussed their shared vision.

Nadella emphasized that AI agents will become the main interface, allowing users to switch seamlessly across devices. This shift is based on Microsoft's Project Solara platform, which combines chips, software, and cloud to deliver more personalized and intelligent AI experiences.

In the video, Amon wore a smart badge concept device from Project Solara. Microsoft showed two concept devices from the project at Build 2026: a desk terminal and a smart badge. The desk terminal looks like a smart speaker with a screen, unlocks via facial recognition, and directly accesses various AI agents.
