Microsoft Cuts Copilot Integration in Some Windows Apps to Improve OS Quality
Microsoft recently announced a series of adjustments to enhance the quality of Windows 11, including reducing the integration of AI assistant Copilot in some apps. The first batch of affected apps includes Photos, Widgets, Notepad, and Snipping Tool.
Pavan Davuluri, Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices, stated in a blog post that Microsoft will be more selective about where and how Copilot is integrated into Windows, focusing on delivering "truly useful" AI experiences. This strategy reflects consumer backlash against "AI bloat"—Pew Research Center data this month shows that as of June 2025, half of U.S. adults are more worried than excited about AI, up from 37% in 2021.
