Microsoft Launches Ink Canvas Digital Ink Workspace with AI Features
At the 2026 Snapdragon Summit, Microsoft officially launched Microsoft Ink Canvas, a digital ink workspace for Windows 11 devices. The app combines handwritten notes, sketches, annotations, and AI features on a single canvas, allowing users to input text and graphics with the Slim Pen.
The new Surface Pro 12-inch device will come with Ink Canvas preinstalled. The app is scheduled to arrive on the Microsoft Store on October 13, 2026, and other compatible Windows devices will be able to get it through the store.
Previously, capturing ideas on a computer often meant switching between sticky notes, drawing tools, documents, and AI apps. Ink Canvas lets users write, highlight, and sketch with a pen first, then keep working with that content in the same workspace. For example, users can write meeting points or mark up key parts of a document, then ask Copilot to help generate follow-up documents and other content based on the text and graphics.
