Microsoft Leases 700MW Capacity in Texas Data Center to Accelerate AI Computing Expansion
As AI large models surge in demand for computing power, tech companies are actively deploying data center resources. Microsoft has been making frequent moves in this area recently to meet its own and external customers' AI computing needs.
According to reports, Microsoft has reached an agreement with data center developer Crusoe to lease 700MW capacity in the second phase of its Abilene campus in Texas. This site was originally targeted for OpenAI's "Stargate" project, but after OpenAI chose other locations, Microsoft took over this resource. Additionally, Microsoft signed approximately $50 billion in data center lease agreements in the recent quarter, continuing to expand its server cluster scale.
