Microsoft plans to launch Maia 300 AI chip this fall, aiming to deliver 300,000 units by 2027
According to reports, Microsoft plans to launch its new Maia 300 AI chip this fall, possibly as early as September. This chip is the latest in Microsoft's self-developed AI chip series, designed to support large-scale cloud AI services, reduce reliance on Nvidia chips, and boost its competitiveness in the AI field. Microsoft first released the Maia series AI chips in November 2023, but has lagged behind competitors in large-scale deployment. Currently, Microsoft is in talks with TSMC for production capacity, aiming to deliver at least 300,000 Maia 300 chips by 2027. Additionally, Microsoft hopes to increase chip production and encourage companies like Anthropic to adopt its self-developed chips. As of now, Microsoft has not responded to requests for comment.
