Microsoft Redesigns Copilot Icon with Two Moving Squares
Microsoft's design team has published a blog post explaining the new Copilot icon. The old static logo is now a dynamic system made of two squares. The squares can shift positions, join into one full shape, and take part in how the product works.
The team said Copilot keeps changing, so a static icon couldn't show what it was doing. They built it from rectangles, tested different sizes, angles, and gaps, and kept two forms that stand alone but also combine. The icon keeps its original gradient colors, which flow along curves between the two shapes.
For motion, all three actions show the two shapes moving and then merging back into one. They stand for "thinking," "planning," and "searching" — showing when Copilot handles requests, sorts out next steps, or pulls info from files.
