Microsoft Teams will auto-save AI meeting files to boost Copilot

Microsoft plans to automatically generate .meeting archive files in Teams to improve its AI assistant Copilot and Facilitator features. These files will be stored in the tenant's SharePoint Embedded, not personal storage, and admins can adjust settings until August 2026.

Three conditions are needed: meeting notes saved, at least one participant with a Copilot license, and AI features enabled during and after meetings. Since Copilot is bundled with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, most organizations will meet these automatically. Users can turn off AI features with a new "Meeting AI" switch.
