Microsoft to Remove Deep Research and Podcasts from Copilot in August

Microsoft plans to remove two Copilot features, Deep Research and Podcasts, from its consumer app on August 18, just 16 months after they launched in April 2025.

Deep Research helped users automatically search and combine information from multiple sources into structured reports. After removal, some of its functions will move to the Researcher feature, and old reports will still be accessible in chat history. The Podcasts feature turned uploaded content into audio conversations between AI hosts, but after August 18, users won't be able to access or export their generated podcasts, and shared links will stop working.
