Mirage Secures $75M Funding to Accelerate AI Video Editing Model Development
Mirage (formerly the developer of AI video editing app Captions) recently secured $75 million in growth funding from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund. The funds will be used to continue building AI models to support its video editing-related businesses.
The company has rebranded from Captions to Mirage, shifting to an AI lab focused on developing specialized models for short video rhythm, frame composition, and attention distribution. Since January 2025, it has adopted a freemium model to compete with rivals like CapCut and Meta Edits, and now offers enterprise-level video creation tools for bulk content production and distribution.
