Mistral AI CEO hints at possible in-house chip development to cut AI costs
Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, Europe's largest AI startup, recently said the company might develop its own chips in the future. He noted that custom AI chips can greatly reduce the cost of deploying tokens. Mistral AI currently relies heavily on Nvidia for computing power but has started exploring chip development. The company also acquired Emmi AI, plans to build a 10MW data center in France, and launched an enterprise agent platform called 'Vibe.' These moves show it's speeding up its AI infrastructure plans.
