Mitsubishi Electric and Sony Form AI Vision Sensor Joint Venture

Mitsubishi Electric and Sony Semiconductor Solutions announced a strategic partnership to create a joint venture called Advanced Vision Solutions. The new company will focus on AI vision sensor solutions for manufacturing, with operations starting in October 2026.

The partnership combines Sony's image sensor and edge AI technology with Mitsubishi Electric's experience in automation control. Together, they will develop AI analysis systems built directly onto image sensors to detect tiny changes on factory floors, speeding up decision-making and control.

This technology aims to support automated and self-operating manufacturing equipment, reducing the need for human labor. The joint venture will target the global manufacturing market to push forward smart manufacturing.
