Mobilint's New USB AI Accelerator MLD-R1
Mobilint, a South Korean AI chip company, has released an edge AI accelerator called MLD-R1 that plugs into a USB port. It's built around their own REGULUS AI SoC, delivering 10 TOPS of INT8 computing power. The device also includes a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU and comes with either 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X memory, all while using just 3 watts of power.\n\nThe MLD-R1 is compact, measuring 90 by 40 by 16 millimeters. It connects via USB at 5Gbps speeds and is rated IP65 for dust and water resistance, so it can run 24/7. It works with popular AI frameworks like Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX, and supports Windows and Linux on x86, Arm, and even RISC-V systems. This device is designed to bring efficient AI processing to edge devices, expanding the ways AI accelerators can be used.
