Moonlight AI Responds to Cursor Using Kimi K2.5 as Base Event, Thanks Musk for Speaking Up
Moonlight AI's Kimi official account posted on Weibo to respond, stating that Kimi K2.5 provides the base for Composer 2, and Cursor accesses the model via Fireworks' managed inference and RL platform, which is an authorized commercial cooperation.
AI programming platform Cursor launched Composer 2 and Composer 2 Fast models, focusing on long-cycle agent programming with a 200,000 Token context window, optimized for complex multi-step tasks. Netizens suspected Composer 2 was using the Kimi K2.5 model; after Musk commented to confirm this, Kimi thanked him for his support. Lee Robinson, VP of Developer Experience at Cursor, admitted that not mentioning the Kimi base was an oversight and will make up for it in subsequent models.
