Nextorage launches external device to run 120B AI model on 32GB laptops
Nextorage, a Japanese storage module company under Phison, announced a new external device called aiDAPTIV Station. It helps AI laptops with only 32GB RAM run large models like OpenAI GPT-OSS-120B. The device is portable, uses USB-C, and works with Windows and Ubuntu. It uses Phison's aiDAPTIV tech to dynamically share resources between laptop RAM and external storage, essentially expanding memory. Nextorage plans to launch it in Japan this year, with a software package included.
