Nous Research launches Hermes Desktop, a cross-platform digital worker
Nous Research announced the public preview of Hermes Desktop, supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux. It shares Hermes Agent's config, API keys, sessions, skills, and memory, letting users switch between desktop and CLI/TUI without losing state.
Hermes Agent is a digital worker that learns and evolves with use, with long-term memory. It plans tasks, calls tools, observes results, and keeps state across sessions. The desktop shows streaming replies and real-time tool activity, with a side panel for previews.
Hermes has closed-loop learning: after complex tasks, the agent writes reusable skills that improve over time. Memory is managed by the agent and boosted by FTS5 search, LLM summaries, and Honcho user modeling. Security includes 5 sandbox backends with container hardening and namespace isolation.
Built-in tools include web search, browser automation, vision, image generation, text-to-speech, and multi-model reasoning, plus support for external tools via MCP.
