Novo Nordisk Teams Up with Anthropic to Speed Up Drug Discovery Using Claude
Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk announced a partnership with AI company Anthropic to use the Claude large model to speed up drug discovery and development. In the early stage, Novo Nordisk will test Anthropic's models and Claude Science in its R&D workflow, focusing on scientific problems where the two sides' technologies could make the biggest breakthroughs.
Novo Nordisk CEO Mike Doustdar said AI tools can bring new research opportunities, help scientists reason, and deepen understanding of human biology and how drugs work. As the maker of the weight-loss drug Wegovy, Novo Nordisk will also use Anthropic's frontier models to strengthen AI-powered software development inside the company.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei noted that giving top researchers access to safe, capable, and trustworthy frontier models can help shorten development cycles and improve research results. Novo Nordisk already uses Claude to automate clinical trial report writing, cutting patient document production time from months to minutes.
