Nvidia accelerates 6G base station push, partnering with Chinese firms
Nvidia is moving fast into the telecom market, looking for Chinese partners to build 6G base stations for overseas markets. It believes computing power will need to reach AI devices through wireless transmission, so it's focusing on edge computing.
Shenzhen Jiaxian Communication is one of Nvidia's partners, working on 6G AI-RAN base stations using CUDA for over six months. Nvidia hopes to test them by 2027 or 2028.
Nvidia has already invested in telecom, buying $1 billion in Nokia shares in October 2025, taking about 2.9% stake, and teaming up on 6G tech. In February, it joined Nokia, Ericsson, T-Mobile, and others to push for open, software-defined, AI-native 6G platforms.
