NVIDIA and MediaTek Expand AI Partnership
NVIDIA and MediaTek announced a deeper partnership on August 31 to build next-gen AI computing platforms for AI infrastructure, on-device AI, and automotive. MediaTek will use NVIDIA's NVLink Fusion platform to help cloud providers and developers create custom XPUs for NVIDIA's rack-scale AI factories.
They're combining NVIDIA's AI and graphics tech with MediaTek's chip design and energy-efficient SoC expertise. NVIDIA also invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek convertible bonds.
The collaboration covers three areas: AI infrastructure, where MediaTek helps build custom AI systems; on-device AI, with continued work on RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips; and automotive, developing AI-driven software-defined vehicle platforms.
