NVIDIA's Vera CPU speeds up chip design, boosting EDA apps by 1.5x
NVIDIA is working with Cadence and Synopsys to optimize EDA tools for its next-gen Vera CPU. As chip design gets more complex, tasks like simulation and verification still rely heavily on CPU power.
In initial tests, Cadence Jasper and Synopsys VCS showed up to 1.5x performance gains on some workloads. Vera, with 88 custom Olympus CPU cores and LPDDR5X memory, is already being used in NVIDIA's next-gen processor development.
NVIDIA plans to launch the Rosa processor based on Vera, featuring Rigel cores, to further improve EDA apps for tougher engineering challenges.
