NVIDIA unveils Vera CPU designed for agentic AI
NVIDIA has detailed its new Vera CPU, built specifically for agentic AI workloads. These tasks move critical execution paths to the CPU, such as running code in sandboxes, calling tools, and retrieving context.
The Vera CPU focuses on strong single-thread performance under full load, using the Olympus core with a four-part design. It packs 88 Olympus cores and 176 SMT threads, balancing high single-thread loads with dense threading.
Memory uses SOCAMM2 LPDDR5X, reaching up to 1.2 TB/s bandwidth, with 164 MB unified L3 cache. The CPU supports dual-socket setups via second-gen NVLink-C2C, offering 176 PCIe 6.4 lanes, CXL 3.1, and Arm CCA/RME confidential computing.
