Open-source HarmonyOS robot OS M-Robots OS donated to OpenAtom Foundation
Wang Cheng Lu, CEO of Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development, announced that M-Robots OS has been fully donated to the OpenAtom Foundation, with a dedicated root community launched. It's China's first open-source HarmonyOS robot OS, with v1.0 released in April 2025 and v2.0 in May.
M-Robots OS 2.0 features a modular framework, hybrid deployment, low-latency collaboration, hardware-software sharing, native AI, and middleware compatibility. It supports flexible deployment from 20KB to XGB, with interrupt response latency ≤1μs and task switching latency ≤1μs. Multi-robot audio-video latency is as low as 4ms, 42% lower than Fast-DDS.
The system includes built-in AI for multimodal human-robot interaction and AI Agent-driven multi-agent collaboration. It's compatible with ROS1/ROS2, Dora-rs, and other middleware, cutting migration costs by 80%. The project aims to provide a unified, scenario-diverse full-stack platform for various robots.
