OpenAI Acquires AI Security Platform Promptfoo to Integrate into Frontier Enterprise Agent Platform
OpenAI recently announced the acquisition of AI security platform Promptfoo, planning to fully integrate its technology into the enterprise-level agent platform OpenAI Frontier. Promptfoo mainly serves enterprise users, identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities during AI system development. Its tools are used by over a quarter of Fortune 500 companies and support LLM application evaluation and red-teaming via open-source tools.
OpenAI stated that as enterprises deploy "AI coworkers" into business processes, security and compliance have become basic requirements. The Frontier platform will enhance three core capabilities: embedded automated security testing and red-teaming functions to identify risks early; integrating security into the development workflow; and strengthening supervision and accountability tools to meet compliance needs.
Promptfoo co-founder and CEO Ian Webster said joining OpenAI will accelerate investment in AI system security solutions, providing more reliable AI application guarantees for enterprises. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.
