OpenAI Codex CLI update adds voice chat and multi-agent support

At OpenAI DevDay 2026, OpenAI announced a major update to Codex CLI. The tool now supports voice chat, letting users start and guide tasks by talking directly to Codex.

With the new /agents view, users can assign work to multiple agents and easily track progress across tasks. OpenAI also improved daily workflows, including editing prompts, resuming sessions, and adding built-in worktree support.

The terminal interface has also been updated to be cleaner and easier to read in long sessions. The update is available for all plans.
