OpenAI cuts prices for GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna models

OpenAI announced price cuts for its GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-5.6 Luna API models to help businesses save money and make smart AI more accessible. The GPT-5.6 Sol model is not affected this time.

For GPT-5.6 Terra, input costs dropped from $2.50 to $2 per million tokens, and output from $15 to $12, both down 20%. GPT-5.6 Luna saw bigger cuts: input fell from $1 to $0.20 per million tokens (80% off), and output from $6 to $1.20 (80% off).

OpenAI said the move is part of its mission to spread advanced intelligence and give users better value. They also shared a chart showing GPT-5.6 Luna offers better performance per task cost compared to DeepSeek V4 Pro.
