OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Desktop App for Linux

OpenAI has released a preview version of its ChatGPT desktop app for Linux, supporting systems like Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43. It offers .deb and .rpm installers for both x64 and ARM64 architectures. The app combines ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, letting users access AI chat, work assistance, and coding tools right from their desktop.

Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced a new desktop app that upgraded Codex into a full ChatGPT experience. This Linux version keeps your existing Codex tasks and projects, and you can even switch back to the old Codex icon in the settings.
