OpenAI launches new ChatGPT desktop app with Codex for coding and work
OpenAI has released a new desktop app that combines Codex with ChatGPT to improve AI coding and help more people who aren't developers. The app has three parts: Chat for conversations, Work for creating documents and spreadsheets, and Codex for software development.
The new app lets you ask questions, search, and have conversations. You can also research, analyze info, and make documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and websites. Codex lets you code using local files and tools.
Users can still keep the old ChatGPT Classic app. Only the new app will get new agent features. Chat history syncs between web and desktop, but work threads and local files stay on your computer.
