OpenAI lifts usage limits on Codex and ChatGPT Work for subscribers
OpenAI's Codex engineering lead Thibault Sottiaux announced that the 5-hour usage limit for Codex and ChatGPT Work tools has been temporarily removed for Plus/Business and Pro subscribers. This change aims to improve user experience by offering more flexibility.
The OpenAI platform now has over 6 million active users. Meanwhile, the GPT-5.6 Sol model is getting efficiency improvements to reduce resource consumption, letting users accomplish more with the same quota. It introduces a new Max reasoning intensity and an Ultra mode that uses sub-agents to speed up complex tasks.
In coding tests, Sol achieved a new high score on Terminal-Bench 2.1, scoring 88.8% in standard mode, beating Claude Mythos 5's 88.0%, and reaching 91.9% with Ultra mode enabled.
