OpenAI Releases GPT-6 Astra with Record-Breaking Abilities
OpenAI released its new AI model GPT-6 Astra on September 3rd, calling it their most powerful model yet. It performs at the cutting edge in areas like computer use, web browsing, software engineering, cybersecurity, and scientific research. It's now available to Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users on ChatGPT Work and Codex, and is also on the API.
GPT-6 Astra has a context window of 1.05 million tokens, which can handle about 1,500 pages of A4 text. It takes in both text and images, and outputs text. In tests, it scored 97.6% on a tough math test, 99.9% on an abstract reasoning test, and a perfect score on a vulnerability exploit test. Its big breakthrough is in computer use—it can control browsers and office software on its own, doing complex tasks, and it finishes them about 47% faster than the previous model.
In cybersecurity, it's the first OpenAI model to hit their 'critical' level. It can find and use zero-day exploits by itself, so the most advanced features aren't fully open yet. API pricing is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, about 2.5 times the previous flagship model. It's available through OpenAI's API and Amazon Bedrock.
