OpenAI Responds to Axios Security Incident: Apple Mac Users Should Update ChatGPT and Other Apps Immediately
OpenAI recently issued an announcement regarding the security incident of third-party developer tool Axios, urging Apple Mac users to update ChatGPT, Codex, and other 4 apps as soon as possible. The incident originated from some npm versions of Axios being maliciously implanted with remote control code, affecting the signature process of OpenAI's macOS applications.
Currently, there is no evidence that hackers used this incident to access user data or tamper with software, but OpenAI has taken precautionary measures: updating security authentication mechanisms, revoking and rotating relevant certificates, and releasing app versions signed with new certificates. Apple Mac users need to update ChatGPT, Codex, Atlas, and Codex CLI before May 8 to avoid their apps being blocked by the system.
