OpenAI Responds to Codex Usage Limit Issues, Warns Against Sharing Subscriptions
Thibault Sottiaux, who leads the Codex and ChatGPT team at OpenAI, said on social media that they've noticed reports about differences in Codex usage limits and are looking into it. Most affected users were using sub2api, which turns a subscription into API traffic for many people. OpenAI doesn't support this and will flag such behavior with their anti-fraud system. He added that if you log in with ChatGPT, you're fine—whether you use the official app or third-party open-source clients like Pi or OpenCode.
