OpenAI's AI agent products hit 10 million users, heating up competition with Anthropic

According to Bloomberg, after OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work, demand for AI agent products surged, giving it new momentum in the race against Anthropic. The combined user base of Codex and ChatGPT Work has reached 10 million, nearly doubling since earlier this month. Codex focuses on coding tasks, while ChatGPT Work handles a broader range of workplace activities.

Both OpenAI and Anthropic are speeding up development of advanced AI agents that can take over complex tasks for users. Anthropic recently released Cowork, a similar product, aiming to expand its success in AI coding tools to more work scenarios. OpenAI's ChatGPT, launched in late 2022, sparked the generative AI boom and now has over 900 million weekly users.
