OpenAI's ChatGPT Atlas Browser Shuts Down on August 9
OpenAI announced that its ChatGPT Atlas browser will stop service on August 9, with no more feature or security updates. The browser launched on macOS on October 21, 2025, less than 10 months ago. OpenAI said user data won't auto-migrate to the new ChatGPT, so users need to manually export bookmarks and history as HTML files and import them into another browser. Atlas can't export cookies, so users must log in again after switching. OpenAI advises users to stop using Atlas due to potential security risks. OpenAI has developed a ChatGPT extension and sidebar for Chrome, and users can also use the new ChatGPT desktop app.
