OpenAI's Enterprise Business Overtakes Consumer Revenue Ahead of Schedule
OpenAI's CFO Sarah Friar told shareholders that enterprise business revenue has surpassed consumer business revenue, hitting this milestone earlier than expected. Most of OpenAI's revenue now comes from enterprise clients, with consumer business taking a smaller share. Friar noted that enterprise growth has exceeded expectations; previously, the company predicted the two would only balance by the end of 2026.
In July, consumer business revenue grew 20% month-over-month, while enterprise clients grew faster at 32%. Bloomberg reported that OpenAI's annualized revenue exceeds $40 billion, which CNBC confirmed. This shift shows AI adoption in the enterprise market is accelerating, reshaping OpenAI's revenue mix.
