OpenAI's GPT-Image-2 Now Generates Transparent Backgrounds

OpenAI announced that its image generation model GPT-Image-2 now supports creating images with transparent backgrounds. Users can enable this feature through the API by setting the background=transparent parameter. Transparent PNGs are useful for e-commerce product photos, PPT illustrations, stickers, and more. Compared to traditional background removal, directly generating an alpha channel gives better results. OpenAI suggests not describing the background in prompts and reminds users to double-check numbers in generated images.
