OpenAI-Samsung Chip Deal Progresses, Korean Enterprise Users Surge 28x

OpenAI's Korea head Kim Kyoung-hoon said at a press event marking the first anniversary of the Seoul office that the next-gen chip partnership with Samsung is going well. Samsung declined to confirm client details. OpenAI aims to deepen ties with Korean chip suppliers to speed up AI processing.

OpenAI also plans to build AI inference infrastructure in Korea to avoid cross-border data rules. Korean ChatGPT Enterprise users grew 28 times from a year ago, Work/Codex users jumped 14 times in six months, and weekly active users rose 35%.

OpenAI Korea recently set up an ad team to support local advertisers and agencies as it expands in the market.
