Some ChatGPT Plus users are seeing a new paid reset option. When their weekly AI quota runs out, they can pay $8 to instantly restore it instead of waiting about 5 hours. OpenAI hasn't officially announced this, but a spokesperson confirmed they're exploring ways to let users buy extra usage.

This feature mainly targets the coding tool Codex. After a reset, the weekly limit goes back to 100%, and the next reset moves to 7 days later. For Pro users, paying $8 saves money compared to the usual $25-50 per week cost.

OpenAI has been offering perks like free resets and free ChatGPT Plus for college students to attract users. The competition with Anthropic is heating up. Both companies are giving away extra usage to win users. The Codex boss even reset limits for paying users, while Anthropic boosted Claude Code's weekly quota. Both want people to adopt their tools and stick with them.
