OpenAI Updates ChatGPT: Free Users Get More Access, New Thinking Depth Control

OpenAI recently updated ChatGPT to improve daily conversations and give free users more access. Plus and Pro users will see the GPT-5.6 Sol model in the chat interface, which gives more accurate and focused answers, plus a new slider to adjust how deep the thinking is for each reply. This version is only for the regular chat interface and doesn't affect Work or Codex. For free and Go users, the default model is now GPT-5.6 Luna, and unlimited text chats will be fully available starting next week. For complex questions, a new "Think" button lets you use higher-level reasoning, but it's protected by anti-abuse safety measures. File uploads, image generation, and other tools still have the same limits.
