OpenClaw 2.0: Easier Setup and Better Browser
OpenClaw, the open-source AI assistant, released version 2.0 (v2026.8.1) on August 30. The update includes over 16,000 pull requests from 933 contributors, covering installation, communication, skills, models, automation, browser and native apps, plugins, and security.
This update focuses on simplifying the setup process. New users can start with existing environments like AI service subscriptions, API keys, or local models, reducing configuration steps and finishing setup by chatting with Claw. The browser experience is also improved, letting users continue setup anytime, return to ongoing work, or join in real-time.
The team says they spent extra time on testing to ensure stability and security. Existing users should check the official changelog for details.
