OPPO and Universities Launch MobileMem for On-Device AI Memory
OPPO's Chief Product Officer Liu Zuohu announced that OPPO, together with OpenKG and teams from Zhejiang University, Tongji University, and Southeast University, has launched MobileMem, a benchmark for evaluating on-device AI memory. This benchmark aims to provide a unified standard for on-device memory technology, helping AI phones move from 'chatting' to 'truly understanding you.'
Liu noted that AI phones have focused on 'whether they can chat' over the past two years, but the next stage is about on-device memory. AI needs to remember users' habits, preferences, and past events to offer proactive help. Without a unified standard, MobileMem will allow different solutions to be tested and improved under the same criteria.
The technical whitepaper is already public, and datasets and tools will be open-sourced gradually. OPPO's ColorOS 17 event is set for September 17, 2026, in Zhuhai, Guangdong, where new AI features will be showcased.
