OPPO CEO Chen Mingyong: AI Should Unlock Creativity, Not Replace People

OPPO founder and CEO Chen Mingyong recently shared his thoughts on AI changes during an internal talk. He pointed out that the industry is putting too much focus on AI as a tool for efficiency, while missing its deeper value.

Chen believes AI is here to unlock productivity and creativity, not to replace people. The real question is whether AI can solve problems that were impossible before, and whether it can be used in products and services to create new value. Seeing only efficiency means not understanding what AI is really about.

He stressed that OPPO has been around for 31 years, and in the AI era, the company needs to put people first, understand what users want, and build an ecosystem where multiple devices serve users proactively.
