Perplexity is building an AI coding tool to take on Cursor and others
According to Business Insider, San Francisco-based AI search company Perplexity has built an internal AI coding tool codenamed 'Teammate,' which has been in use since May. The tool is designed to manage the full lifecycle of software projects, including troubleshooting and monitoring online services, and supports multiple models.
With a valuation of $20 billion, Perplexity could compete directly with Cursor, Anthropic, and OpenAI if it launches the product. CTO Denis Yarats believes that by the end of this year, software engineers may no longer need to manually read code, relying entirely on AI for development.
